FEATURED STORIES JULY 2015
Message from Dean Carlos J. Alonso:
Expanded Support for Student-Parents

Recognizing the simultaneous personal and educational pursuits of our students, GSAS is committed to supporting those who are or will become parents while enrolled in Arts & Sciences Ph.D. programs. We are pleased to announce an expansion of family-friendly initiatives and resources beginning in the fall 2015 semester:
.
  • A twelve-week period of Accommodation for Parental Responsibilities for students who give birth, adopt, or become legal guardians or foster parents, as well as students whose spouse or partner gives birth.
  • An optional semester of unpaid accommodation, in addition to the 12 weeks of paid accommodation.
  • A $2,000 child-care subsidy per academic year for each child who is under the age of five and not yet attending kindergarten.
  • An Adoption Assistance Program that will provide a reimbursement of up to $5,000 to help with adoption costs.
  • A new campus lactation room located in Butler Library.
.
The generosity of GSAS alumni helps support resources such as these for students across all Arts & Sciences departments. To learn more about our family-friendly policies, click here.
